Chamba is the main town in district Chamba. It has been the capital and governing centre for many rulers of the region. The entire district of Chamba comprises of many tourist places such as Bharmour, Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Pangi and Manimahesh. The main town of Chamba gets more tourism than other regions. It is set beside two rivers, namely, Ravi and Sal. There is a large ground in the centre of the town called Chowgan, where many fairs and festivals are held. There are many ancient temples in the town and other places of sightseeing. The hotels and restaurants are top notch and offer lovely views. Chamba is locked between three regions of Jammu, Lahaul and Kangra. It has also been under the rule of Mughals which influenced the art and brought miniature paintings to its culture. Chamera Lake: Chamera Lake is formed due to Chamera Dam. One can go boating and fishing in the lake. The lake is fed by Ravi River.
Chamba gets winter in December, January and February. The weather becomes better with the advent of March and sightseeing becomes pleasant. In April, the weather becomes warm and the hotels are full of tourism. The summer becomes hot in May and June. Restaurants come with summer special cuisines. July, August and September is the rainy season in Chamba. October and November are cold and sunny.
